Self Portrait Crit

In critique it was apparent that I had realized my self portrait goal; to make a cake the is utterly depressing - one that represents my disillusionment.

(some) words that were used to describe it: "sad", "rotten", "solemn."

Aspects well liked by Critics:
-The dirty rag flopped on the pedestal accentuated the grisliness of the cake.
-The sad/droopy burned out candles that did the same and added an element of time to the piece
-The fact that it tells a story; it looks like it had fallen and was a cake from the party forgotten or neglected.
-The fact that it is a cake and plays on viewer's preconceptions of what a cake is or should be.
-Location of display. It was in a corner of the class by the lockers, most people didn't even notice it..which was my goal (aided feeling of neglect) Also, the pedestal it was on was small and drew people closer to make it more intimate. The lighting of this spot was also sort of dingy and sad (In a good way).

It was described as well integrated; that all aspects pushed the piece towards the point.
